  • Crappy Week

    I have been sick all week. Not to worry, I think it's just a cold.

    I'm really depressed that I missed all of the fall color because the brakes on my car are broken. Now all the leaves are on the ground, and I didn't get out in the woods to take pictures at all this year. As you may remember, I got a new camera in March and I was looking forward to fall all year, and I missed it completely. Now I have to wait 11 more months to get another opportunity to shoot fall color.

    You probably couldn't imagine how profoundly this bums me out.

    I got my car to the repair shop, it's going to cost $300 to fix it. I don't have that kind of money right now. It sucks. I'm trying to figure things out, but with my limited options, its so damn hard. I don't know how long I'll have to wait to fix my car. It really doesn't matter anymore since the leaves have fallen. I really don't like shooting winter scenes, because I hate being cold. lol It's usually ugly here in the winter because it's always cloudy. Hell, it's been cloudy and rainy all year.

  • Give Wildlife a Brake

    Did you know that the number of automobile-wildlife collisions substantially increases in fall?  Fewer daylight hours results in poor driving conditions during morning and evening commutes. Wildlife is more active in the evening and early morning and especially active in the fall.  Animals that hibernate, like bears or raccoons, travel widely between patches of nut-producing trees to fatten up for winter. For deer, fall is breeding season—males will brave the danger of crossing roads without a second thought to pursue females!  Most of us have seen squirrels or rabbits dart about and make sudden turns when in front of a moving automobile. This is also what they do when chased by a predator. This behavior makes them more likely to be hit by vehicles. Raccoons, skunks, opossums, foxes, armadillos, bears, deer, birds, snakes, frogs and turtles are all frequent victims of collisions.

    Viewer Tip: Give Wildlife a Brake Week occurs from October 24-31. By simply increasing alertness and awareness while driving, the impact to American wildlife can be reduced. Scientists estimate that simple precautions such as slowing down to 45 miles-per-hour will substantially reduce the chances of a collision. In addition to speed control, scan roadside edges ahead of your car for movement or the reflection of an animal’s eyes in your headlights.

  • Random Life Update...

    So, you're probably wondering what I've been doing lately, especially since I'm terrible at answering e-mail, and communications in general. lol

    Well, my life hasn't changed much since my last update, but I have a bit of good news...

    1. I got excused from jury duty because my car is broke down. Yay me. They're p

    2. The car repair might not be as bad as we originally thought, we are going to try to find out what's wrong with it Monday.

    3. I don't have to go to court because the credit card company/debt collector that is suing me decided to make a settlement offer, I only have to pay $15 a month until I start making money again. I have to pay 3x more than I originally spent on my credit card, but at least I'm not going to court.

    4. Something good happened with my new plan that I'm working on, that will make it easier for my plan to go faster than I thought it would be.

    5. I am almost done with my project that I've been working on since late August. I just have one small thing left to do and it will be done.

    I also have some news for my facebook friends, but can't share it yet, until I find out something from the person I'm working with.

    I'm depressed that I missed most of the fall color and I wasn't able to go out and shoot photos. I have to make up for it next year I guess.
    I have to go now, Olivia threw Skippy in the mop water bucket. Grrrrrrr.
